Attached are some piccys of the (grass mower) cutter deck in its previous state. When I chopped the rust off I found that the deck was lying open like a busted sofa. It nearly had more holes in it than it had metal left. That was some heap of rust lying on the shed floor, but then, it has served us well and is a queere ol’ age. So its no shame it now needs rebuilding.

..before..
So after a bit of head scratching a plan was hatched.
It was made from 2mm steel but as I have a reputation of beefing things up, 3 mm was decided on simply because I spied a sheet of 3mm steel just the right size to cut the deck out of with practialy no waste left. It will probably do the job all right for another lock of years. The bearings were shot too, apart from one, but I put in four brand new ones. The colour might not be the same but Nuffield tractor orange was handier got hold off than Westwood mower orange, so can you guess which one I picked? I got self etch primer and sprayed it on and then a couple of days later some Nuffield orange. Everything in the shed was a tinge of orange from the over
spray includeing the tip of the dogs tail, I do wonder how that may
have happened, hmmmm!

..and after..

I woke up early on Saturday morning, and noticed the sun was trying to get through the fog. By 10 o’clock most of the fog seemed to have disappeared. The weatherman promissed 0 wind, so the car was loaded quickly, coffee and sandwiches too, and off we went.
After crossing the first hill, I got a bit worried, I could not see the rest of the world!
Never mind, pushing on regardless (great to have a gps-enabled-car.) I soon found the field.
Visibility was around 200 yards/meters at best. Not to be deterred I quickly got the Yak55 ready for it’s maidenflight. What can I say, if flies nice, but I forgot that I needed to increase the elevator throws. Other than that, it flies different than the Flash, it feels snappier. That might be due to the different servo’s I have in this one. Time will tell. After emptying all my batteries (did not take too long) and a cuppa, (1 degrees Centigrade says my thermometer) I decide this is enough fun for the day. Back to the sunny hills of Rostrevor!

(what do you mean that's a fake picture? The fog was there, I was there, the plane was there, I just did not have enough hands to fly and snap a picture.)
Moral of the story? Just because the sun shines in on your backyard, does not mean it shines on the other side of the hills!
Which is a departure from the usual,’Just because it rains where you are, does not mean it rains on the other side of the hill.’

All club members are welcome as this is your chance to have your say and vote for or put yourself forward for a position on the Committee.
Hope to see you there,

It is with regret that I annouce the passing of a good friend to Banbridge Aeromodelling Club, Eric Brown. Eric was the mainstay of Dungannon MFC for many many years and was always friendly and welcoming to everyone who visited Dungannon.
Eric lost his battle with Cancer yesterday (2nd Nov), I would like extend our deepest sympathies to Eric’s wife and 3 boys as well as the extended Brown family and his close friends from Dungannon MFC who I know supported him closely through his illness.
Eric will be sadly missed not only in Dungannon MFC but throughout the small community within our hobby locally!

..or so it felt. We enjoyed a real pleasant afternoon, with plenty flying going on. Below are the 3 newest recruits, Simon, Stephen and Darren being shown the trics of the trade.
All three are doing really well, if this spring weather continues, they’ll all be fit for their A-ceritficate in a few weeks form now.

(Spring? yup, I have it from someone who knows about these things. We are skipping winter this time.)
And just to remind y’all, next weekend, 24th, we have another funfly event. Dust off that wing (less drag) prime your engine (gives it time to dissolve all the gunk) and do not only charge your batteries, but make sure the charge stays inside said battery.
Just looking at that image again: Notice anything funny?
No? look at the trousers: Paul/Darren wear jeans, Matthew/Stephen white stripe tracksuit, Dennis/Simon dark trousers..
The mind is a wonderful machine alright!

On Tuesday 13th October, Dennis, Alistair, Trevor and myself travelled to Redrock Boys Brigade near Markethill to give them some tips on a kit they had bought for their craft acheivement awards.
I was contacted via email by one of their leaders Colin who had rang round a few Mainland shops and was advised to order a Ben Buckle Majestic Major, basically a vintage type model like a Junior 60 only much bigger, 80″ wingspan for a 70 fourstroke. We arrived and after the meet and greets we had a look at the kit. Now for the diehard builder this kit would have been a dream, good quality wood, a large plan, construction that required patience and skill, double beveled joints, mitres here there and everywhere a lot of work for any modeler, let alone complete newbie’s with only an hour a week for 6-10 weeks of the year. We chatted to Colin and the captain Hans, explaining the level of work would be huge and the end of the project would be many years away, even for Dennis or my Dad, 4nights building a week wouldn’t see it finished this side of Christmas. Dennis had brought a magazine so we were able to explain and show how maybe a simple ARTF powered glider would be best, that way a few hours would have it built and in the better weather they could visit our field and buddy box it and have a go! So that was agreed!
The night wasn’t lost though, I got 3 good flights with my Suk and I think the lads enjoyed seeing something new and different. It was a tight hall but the sukhoi performed well as always!
